SHOONYA (ZERO)- WIDOWS OF VRINDAVAN

Vrindavan, an ancient town in India, is often referred to as the “City of Widows. This name reflects the large number of widows who live here many having arrived after being displaced or abandoned following the deaths of their husbands. Within temple corridors, ashrams, and narrow lanes, life continues in quiet repetition. Days are structured around prayer, routine, and survival. What emerges is not just hardship, but endurance—lived with a stark, unembellished dignity. These photographs are not about absence, but presence—of women who continue to inhabit, endure, and shape this space, often unseen.
