KOMAL BEDI SOHAL
Based in New Delhi, I work across street photography and long-form documentary — always drawn to the unscripted, the unguarded, the unheroic detail that carries the most truth. I photograph with patience and intention. A gesture. A glance. A moment of settling. Dignity and connection don't need to be constructed. They already exist. My role is simply to photograph them with care and respect.
I bring to photography over three decades of experience in advertising and design, including multiple Cannes Lions wins and jury service. That career was built on the crafted, the considered, the intentionally constructed image. Photography pulled me in the opposite direction — toward the unposed, the unrehearsed, the moment that asks nothing of its subject except to be witnessed.
My work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across New York, Paris, London, Venice, Rome, and India. In 2024, I was selected for the La Vie en Bleu International Photography Residency in Nice, France. I have co-authored and designed three photography books, including Chola Maati — a portrait of the Pardhan Gond community of Pathangarh, Madhya Pradesh, combining photographs, oral histories, and traditional paintings, published by Mapin Books in 2025.
