WORKSHOP TESTIMONIALS

HEMANT MADUGIRI

“I recently concluded a three-day workshop with Hemant, who had just returned to India after spending 25 years in the United States. Our first walk together was through Chandni Chowk — an initiation of sorts into the density and tempo of photographing in India. As expected, it was chaotic, loud, and unapologetically alive.
We moved slowly through the streets, stopping often — sometimes to photograph, sometimes simply to observe, sometimes to share a cup of chai and talk about what we were seeing. Street photography is rarely about reacting quickly alone; it is about learning to settle into the rhythm of a place.
Somewhere over those three days, I watched Hemant begin to find that rhythm. The hesitation softened, the camera moved more instinctively, and he began to trust what he was drawn to. That quiet shift — when observation turns into intuition — is the moment every workshop hopes to create.
By the end of the workshop he had produced a strong and thoughtful body of work, shaped not just by the streets of Chandni Chowk, but by the confidence that comes from learning to truly see.
Watching that transformation is, for me, the most rewarding part of teaching.”

--------------------------

“Recently, I participated in a three-day one-on-one street photography workshop with Komal. Having resided abroad for over 18 years, primarily capturing street photographs in the United States, I felt a bit lost and overwhelmed when I walked the streets of Delhi.
Consequently, I reached out to Komal to inquire if she would be willing to share her insights and thought process on how she sees the world around her. Specifically, I sought her insights on how she effectively isolates subjects, constructs compelling narratives amidst the chaotic environment of Old Delhi’s bustling streets and markets. The discussions on the surrounding during the photowalk and the subsequent afternoon critique sessions were both productive and enlightening. I highly recommend that individuals with a passion for street photography seize the opportunity to attend a workshop with Komal.”
